Kendall spent her first night in her crib Friday night. I was a little sad not to have her next to me in the cradle, but I think we both slept much better in separate rooms. She ate around 8 or 9 AM, again at 12:30, and again at 4:30 AM. She slept until 8ish Saturday morning.

Kendall had a GREAT day on Saturday. She was very happy, very alert, and she spent alot of time awake.

I bathed Kendall in the shower with me Saturday morning. After I bathed her, I wrapped her in a towel and put her in her little bath tub while I started getting dressed. She was so happy, she sat there for awhile by herself and even smiled at me. Here's the first smile I've been able to capture on camera!

Saturday night, I left bottles with Kevin and went to my mom's house to get a good night's sleep. I slept around 7 hours, and I was surprised that I felt really sluggish this morning. I guess it will take awhile to catch up.

Wouldn't you know that the night I decide to spend away, Kendall sleeps better than ever! I fed her around 8 PM Saturday night, she went to sleep around 10 PM, and she didn't eat again until 4:30! Kevin says he woke up around 4 from a hard sleep and was startled to see what time it was. He went in her room to make sure she was still breathing (I can't believe HE actually did this). At 4:30 or so, she cried, and he got up to make her a bottle. She actually fell back asleep while he was heating it up, and she only took about 2 ounces. We both agree that she might not have needed to eat at all. Kendall woke up this morning around 7:30.

Haley had a big day Saturday, too. We took her, Bianka, and Jess skating on Saturday. She only skated for awhile before asking to take her skates off, but she still had a good time.

Saturday night, Haley went to a birthday party for her friends Jasmyn and Tre. Haley was so excited to give Jasmyn her present - a Cinderella dress ;) Haley and Jasmyn (ESPECIALLY Haley) had so much fun together, and they acted very silly. Here are the silly girls and all the kids at the party.

Busy Week

The girls and I have had a pretty busy week or so. I've been trying to find things to keep Haley as busy as possible - we've gone to the movies, to a bounce play house (one of Haley's favorite places), and to visit both of Haley and Kendall's great grandmothers. One morning this week and last week, Marynell stayed with Kendall so that Haley and I could do something fun just the two of us. The first morning we saw a movie (Doogal). The second morning together we also tried to see a movie, but it didn't work out, so we went to bounce. There was no one there except us when we first arrived, so the staff allowed me to bounce on the equipment with Haley. She seemed to really enjoy this, and I did, too!

Kendall joined us on one trip to the bounce play house this week - she slept through it. Part 1 of her nap took place in her car seat; part 2 took place in the Baby Bjorn.

Here are the girls with their great grandmother Jenkins.

Haley still loves to hold her sister.

Haley attended her first Pony Pals session at the zoo with Marynell last week. Mom has been trying to get her into this class for awhile. Haley and her friend Anna got to work together to groom Blondie, and then they both got to ride. Haley and Kevin with to a family reunion at the beach over the weekend, where Haley had a blast playing with her cousins and family members. Kendall and I had a nice quiet weekend here at home.

Kendall attended her first 'Girls Night' last night. My girl friends from high school (and middle school, and elementary...and in one case, even kindergarten!) came over for an appetizer night. Kendall refused to be left out - she did not want to sleep in her crib or cradle, so she spent much of the night sleeping in Leila's arms. Kendall also got to meet Braeden last night, a potential future boyfriend;)

1 month old

Kendall has been very kind to her mommy the past week or so - for 5 nights in a row, she only got up once during the middle of the night, and the earliest she woke up after any of those nights was 6 AM. Most mornings, she woke up at or after 7 AM. Last night, however, she woke up twice. She also ate more frequently than normal this morning, but I'm hoping this is just a little hiccup and that she'll be back to her old patterns tonight or tomorrow.

Here is a pic of Kendall on her 1 month birthday. I'll try to take this same picture every month so we can see how her size changes from month to month. I did the same thing with Haley. I can't believe my little bit will be 5 weeks old tomorrow! She has grown SO much.

This morning, she actually rolled completely over from her tummy to her back. I couldn't believe it. Here is a picture of her after her move. She was not happy to be left on the floor while I finished getting dressed, and she seemed to channel her anger for her first 'roll over.' :)

Here are the girls on Father's Day in their 'Daddy's Girl' shirts.

Haley has reached her first reading milestone of the summer. She and Marynell have read 24 books so far this summer. Haley's prizes included a medal, a sticker tatoo, and a certificate for a free frostee from Wendy's! Last summer, Haley and Marynell read around 120 books!

Visit from Marynell

Mom stayed with us today and helped me with both girls. She was a huge help, as always. She surprised us with a dress for Haley. Haley and I both LOVED her new dress:

Kendall had a little 'tummy time,' and she did a good job lifting her head. She did a GREAT job lifting her head, though, when Mom was holding her. Check out my strong girl! She lifted her head up like this for around a minute straight.

Sound asleep

Haley did not get a nap yesterday. We were out shopping until past her naptime. On the way home, she asked me who was singing the song that was playing on the radio. I told her it was Kenny Chesney, and she was quiet for the rest of the song. As the song finished, I looked in the mirror to see what she was doing - she was out.

When we pulled into the driveway, Kendall started screaming bloody murder - she hates to be in her car seat. She usually screams when I strap her in, and she sometimes starts crying after she's been sitting in it awhile.

To my surprise, Haley did NOT wake up. She sleeps through it in the middle of the night, and she can even sleep through it when her sister is screaming 2 feet away from her ;)

A new playhouse

This weekend, Kevin, Papa, and Gerald put together a new play house for Haley. The guys worked hard all day Saturday and part of Sunday to get this put together for her. Haley has already had a blast on the playhouse, and the dogs are very happy to have some company in the back yard.

Here it is!

Haley has a slide to enjoy...

two swings...

a couple of 'rock climbing' walls...

and she loves the new scope, too (that's the blue thing she's holding).

Haley, Kendall, and their friends will have tons of fun playing in their new playhouse!

Ladies in red

Haley LOVES to wear clothes that match 'her baby.' Marynell gave the girls these dresses.

Visits with Family

Last Friday, we had visits from Stacey and Jackson, Bryan, Tami and family, Marynell, Lee, Rebecca, and Grandmama and Papa. Here are some pics.

Haley was happy to see Jackson. She told everyone she saw that day 'Do you know what? Jackson's walking!' She thought this was VERY exciting.

Jackson wasn't sure what to think about the baby.

Baby Kendall and Jackson are only a little over a year apart.

Here is Maynee with her girls.

BTOAK and Grandmama and Papa came for dinner. You know the kids table is always the happenin' place to be.

Olivia was the first in her family to hold Kendall. She raced in the door and beat everyone else to her!

All the girls were happy to meet their new cousin.

2 week old check up

Kendall had her (late) 2 week old checkup yesterday. Here are her measurements:

Height: 21 3/4 inches - 90% (she measured 20 inches even at birth)
Weight: 9 lb 10 oz - 80% (she weighed 8 lb 2.4 oz at birth)
Head: 14 inches - 25%

The doctor said everything looked great. When Kendall went to the doctor about 2 weeks ago, she weighed 8 lb 8 oz - she's gained over a pound in just under 2 weeks!

The doctor said Kendall looks great.

Three Weeks Old - Tomorrow!

Haley, Kendall and I went for our first walk yesterday. I forgot how fast babies fall asleep when they're carried in a front carrier. Kendall had been up for awhile and was just starting to get fussy. A calm came over her as soon as I got her in the carrier. I looked down a few minutes later, and she was fast asleep. Here is the gorgeous view I had when I looked down into the carrier.

I also put Kendall in her kick and play for the first time yesterday. This was one of Haley's favorite toys when she was little.

This morning, I put Kendall in one of the pillow case dresses that Mom made for her.

When Haley saw Kendall in her dress, she said 'Oh, she has a pillow case dress too!' And then, of course, Haley just had to put hers on. :)

My little pea pod

A few nights ago, I started swaddling Kendall in a blanket made just for swaddling - it has velcro closures to help it stay put. I've never been good at swaddling babies in a blanket. I can't ever get it tight enough.

Here is my little pea pod! When she's sleepy, she's ok with this. However, if she decides she wants her hands up by her face, she can get very angry very quickly. No matter how tightly I swaddle her in this, if she decides she wants her hands out, she can get them out.

Kendall has done very well at night the past few nights. For 3 nights in a row, she has gone 1 four hour stretch between meals - she eats (roughly) at 10 PM and 2 AM. Getting her back to sleep wouldn't be bad if we didn't keep having accidents right before I put her back in the cradle. Two nights ago she spit up everywhere and last night we had a diaper incident. But the important thing is that she seems to be learning to space her meals out a little longer in the middle of the night (I should knock on wood right now).

Haley has had a cold, and I haven't let her touch or kiss me or the baby. I've also tried to keep her several feet away from us. She's such a good sport - she hasn't gotten her feelings hurt about this at all. It's hard to carve out time to play with her when I'm so tired during the day, but I'm trying. Here she is a day or two ago when we enjoyed a brownie sundae together while Kendall was napping.

Haley's Theatrical Debut

Haley has been taking a class at a local theatre for 3 year olds thru 5 year olds. She enjoys her class very much. She often does the little dances when she comes home (she and I did some of them together just last night).

Haley's friend Jasmyn took the class with her. The girls had a little 'performance' during their final class. Haley does much better at home than she did in her performance. She had just caught a cold and was not feeling too great that day. Jasmyn, however, was VERY enthusiastic about the performance.

Kevin, Marynell, Kendall, and I all came to the show. Kendall slept through the whole thing.

Here are some pics. The kids sang and danced to 'Who's afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?'

Here they are taking a bow. Jasmyn is on the left in the pink outfit.

I was so happy I could come and see the performance!
