Prenatal Appointment #9

All went well at today's appointment. Baby's current estimated weight is 7.5 pounds. I have started dilating - this is a change from last week.

We officially set the date for induction - the office called the hospital to reserve the appointment!

Playdate with Abigail and Samuel

I went to the Kenny Chesney show last night with Laura and Elizabeth. Clifton had to work, so Kevin watched Abigail and Samuel at our house. Abigail and Haley had a great time playing together, of course. Mr. Kevin got a taste of what it's like to take care of a baby again! Here's Samuel sleeping in our bed - Kevin made him a great protective barrier. This is so funny to me, because when Haley was a baby Kevin NEVER let her sleep in our bed.

Kevin took Samuel and the two princesses for a wagon ride.

This morning, Laura called to tell us that Samuel cut his first tooth last night! Laura and Clifton noticed it when they were feeding him this morning. Kevin said that Samuel did not want to be put down all night. When Samuel gets bigger we can tell him that he cut his first tooth while he was hanging out with Mr. Kevin.

Inside Out It

One of Haley's new princess dresses is a pink Barbie dress. She bought it with money the Banks gave her for her birthday. She has worn it almost every day this week.

The dress has a Barbie button on the top front piece of the dress. One morning this week, the dress was partially inside out. She looked at it and said 'I can't see the Barbie button. Mommy, will you inside out this for me?' I've never heard the term inside out used as a verb, but I knew exactly what she meant. I put the dress rightside out and got a prompt 'Thank you!' from Haley.

Prenatal Appointment #8

Everything went well this week at my prenatal appointment. The baby was in good position. She was moving around a bunch and had the hiccups while I sat in the waiting room. Of course, she stopped moving before the ultrasound started.

Baby's belly measurement put her at 40 weeks, even though I was a day shy of 36 weeks! With this and her other measurements, her estimated current weight was 8 pounds. The doctor said he didn't think that was right. I don't think so either - considering the fact that just 3 weeks ago, her estimated weight was a little over 4 pounds, and I haven't gained 4 pounds in 3 weeks. Still, she is probably going to be bigger than Baby Haley was!

Haley's 3 Year Old Checkup

Haley had her 3 year old checkup on Friday. She got her finger pricked AND a shot, and she didn't cry at all for either. The nurses seemed to be very impressed with this!

Her iron level was good, but her cholesterol was borderline - 198. Per our doctor, anything under 170 is good, 170 - 200 is borderline, and over 200 is high. I've had a few people tell me that the test results are NOT significant because she ate right before they did the test, but we probably need to be eating more veggies and less chicken nuggets anyway, so we'll work on that.

Haley's height and weight measurements puts her around the 50th percentile in both categories.

Spend the Night party with Miley and Pete

Haley's friends Miley and Pete spent the night with Haley after her party. This was Haley's first time having friends sleep over with her in her big girl room! Jessika watched the kids while the grown ups went out to dinner to celebrate Carrie's birthday. When we got home, they were fast asleep (good job, Jessika!).

The kids had a great time playing on Sunday, too. After breakfast, they told me they were going upstairs to play. I heard them heading up the stairs, and then it got quiet. I walked into the family room and saw them lined up watching cartoons on the stairs. I asked if they wanted to come back down and sit on the sofas to watch, and they said, no, we're going upstairs to play. They lingered here a little while longer, though - I guess when you're 3 and 4, it's just really tough to tear yourself away from Disney Playhouse ;)

Haley's 3rd Birthday Party

Haley had a bounce party for her birthday this year. She always has fun bouncing, and her party was no exception.

Here are Haley and her buddy Anna.

Is this against the rules? ;) Here are Abigail, Anna, and Haley sliding together.

Haley's cousins Abigail, Jackson, and Olivia.

Gracie and Gage were able to come to the party this year, too!

Some of the grownups seemed to have just as much fun sliding as the kids did ;)

Kevin had to assist Haley with getting close enough to her cake to blow out her candles.

Do you think Haley enjoyed her cup cake? Happy Birthday, Scooter!!!!!

Happy 3rd Birthday!

I took a day off of work on Friday to spend the day with Haley and celebrate her 3rd birthday. I decorated her doorway with streamers. When she got up, we sat in bed together for awhile and watched her favorite cartoons.

We went to the zoo for one of Haley's classes - it was 'Miss Spider's Tea Party.' We read the Miss Spider book, talked about insects and spiders, and made a silly spider cookie before our tea party. The kids were supposed to bring a stuffed animal, and Haley brought her Pooh Bear that Marynell gave her for her first birthday.

We spent some more time hanging out at the zoo, but Haley was not very interested in the animals. She seemed happy to just be outside.

Friday evening, we had Haley's grandparents and great grandmamas over for Haley's favorite dinner - pizza! We had cupcakes for desert.

It took a few tries before she blew out her candles, but she got it.

Haley had fun opening her presents. She tore through them. Marynell gave Haley this beautiful blue dress. Haley wanted to try it on right away.

Haley's Grandmama and Papa gave Haley a purple fairy dress with coordinating shoes. Of course, we had to have another wardrobe change ;)

Here is Haley with her Great Grandmama Jenkins and Great Grandmama Wooten.

Haley had a great time on her birthday!

Disney Princesses on Ice

We kicked off Haley's birthday weekend Thursday night with Disney Princesses on Ice! I had to work late, so we missed some of our pre show plans, but Marynell and Haley still got to go see Cinderella's red carpet arrival. Marynell told me how pretty Cinderella's carriage was, and Haley told me that the horses that pulled the carriage were stinky ;)

We had a quick dinner at Chickfila, and I surprised Haley with her birthday present - a new Cinderella dress! She was VERY pleased with it. We put it on over her clothes. She insisted on wearing her shoes the entire night. The crown didn't last too long, though. Haley did not want to wear the coordinating Cinderella necklace I got her, either - she informed me that Cinderella does NOT wear a necklace.

While we were getting our tickets at will call, we saw Laura, Abigail, Missy, and Lindsey. Haley was SO excited to see Abigail. She ran to the stairs and said 'I have to go see Abigail Claire!' Here are Lindsey, Abigail, and Haley.

One of the things we had planned to do before the show was have dinner and play time with Latausha and Jasmyn, but we weren't able to make it because I worked later than I planned. Haley still got to sit next to Jasmyn at the show, and they had a good time. For much of the performance, they were both mesmerized by the show.

I didn't get to see Haley's face when the show first started, but I DID get to see her face when Cinderella came on the ice - she was the last one on. Haley's face lit up - she was very happy to see Cinderella ;)

A few times before and after the show, Haley spotted little girls around her age wearing a Cinderella gown. She approached each of these little girls and wanted to pat them or hold their hands. She told at least one girl 'Look, we're twins!'

Surprise Baby Shower

My office had a surprise baby shower today for me and Bonan, one of my co workers who is expecting a little girl in July. I was completely surprised - I had no idea what was coming. We were supposed to have a team lunch at Longhorn. When I got there, I saw my mom and Haley. Mom told me last night she was having lunch with her friends, and I assumed that we just happened to be at the same place. Mom had to tell me she was there for a shower before I realized what was going on ;) We had a very nice lunch. We played a few games, ate, open gifts, and ate cake! I got lots of great gifts, including much needed diapers, wipes, and bath supplies, some new outfits for baby Kendall, and some sweet engraved silver Gerber spoons from Elizabeth.

Haley was so excited. She kept telling me that she had a present for her baby sister. She was also excited about the present that she brought for Miss Bonan - she couldn't wait to give it to her.

Miss Michele made diaper cakes for me and Bonan.

As we usually do at our team lunches, the team socialized middle school style - the men were all at one end of the table and the ladies were all at the other end of the table.

Grandmama Wooten's 84th Birthday Party

We celebrated Grandmama Wooten's 84th birthday party this evening!

Here are Grandmama and Haley blowing out Grandmama's candles.

Haley also helped Grandmama open her presents.

Haley got two servings of cake and ice cream - the first was her own. The second came when she convinced O to share his with her.

Haley loves her great grandmama Wooten!

Grandmama Jenkins 90th Birthday Party!

We celebrated Grandmama Jenkins 90th birthday party last night at Cicely and Dickie's house. It was a beautiful evening. The kids got to play outside, and we spent alot of time on Cicely's screened in porch. All of Grandmama's great grandchildren were there - I can't remember the last time we had all the kids in one place.

Here is Grandmama with 4 of her great grandbabies.

Great grandbaby #5 - baby Cicely Marie! Marie was awake for much of the evening, and she was very alert.

Haley's going to be a great big sister. She was very concerned when baby Marie cried, and she enjoyed singing to her with Marynell.

Gage, as always, was quite the little ham.

We all helped sing happy birthday to Grandmama, and we had two rounds of blowing out the candles - the first time, Gage blew them out. The second time, Grandmama blew them out!

Here is Grandmama with her grandaughters and 6 great grandbabies (can you find #6?;)

After the kids helped Grandmama open her presents, Grandmama had presents for us. She gave us some of her beautiful jewelry - I was given my great grandmother's ring.

The kids had a blast playing together.

We didn't get home until around 10:00. For the first time in a long time, Haley actually fell asleep in the car! We wore her out, and she had a great time.

How'd you get so cute?

At the dinner table tonight at Marynell's house, Haley looked at me across the table and smiled. She said 'Mommy, how'd you get so cute?'

I just love all the sweet things she hears grown ups say and then repeats to us.

Monkeys have 5 fingers

When I picked Haley up tonight, I asked her what she did today. She told me she went to the zoo and learned about some animals. I asked her what animals, and she said monkeys and apes. She told me 'Mommy, monkeys have 5 fingers, just like we do! Except for the spider monkey - he only has 4 fingers.' I was very impressed that she remembered this.

The treat in today's class was a banana treat! Haley got a frozen banana and chose peanut butter (over chocolate) to go on her banana. She got to roll it up in all sorts of toppings, including fruit loops. Of course, she ate the whole thing.

Strawberry Patch

Marynell took Haley to the strawberry patch this week. They had a great time.

Haley enjoyed picking strawerries...

And eating them!

Prenatal Appointment #7

All went well at my prenatal appointment this morning. The doctor said the baby's heartbeat was great, her placenta looked good, and that she had plenty of amniotic fluid. Baby was relatively still, which BTW was not the case at 7:30 this morning, when she seemed to be jumping and flipping all over the place. However, we did get to watch her move her little hand up to her mouth - that was neat. She is measuring right at about 33 weeks, which is where I should be (I'll be 33 weeks tomorrow).

The second half of this pregnancy is very different from the second half of my last pregnancy - with Haley, I felt fabulous from week 20 on. I didn't have trouble sleeping until the week before she was due, and even then, I still slept OK. I even took the stairs at work (in heels, no less) until the very last week. I was actually more comfortable in heels than I was in tennis shoes, flip flops, or flats.

With baby K, I'm not quite 33 weeks yet, and I quit taking the stairs at work a LONG time ago;) Mom and I painted the kitchen this weekend, and my back is still recovering. I must turn from one side to another in bed at least 20 times a night now. Tennis shoes and flats are more comfortable for my back than heels are. Luckily, I can usually fall back asleep pretty quickly, but I don't sleep for long without waking back up. Baby K seems to move alot more than Haley did, and it is actually uncomfortable and sometimes hurts - it never hurt with Haley. Dr. Hutchinson confirmed that this is due (at least in part) to the fact that my uterus is more stretched out this time around.

None of these are meant to be complaints, but it is interesting (and very surprising) to me that just 3 years ago, my body dealt with pregnancy in such a different way.
